James Morrison & Band Moody Cow Brewery and Events West are delighted to present renowned Jazz musician and multi-instrumentalist, James Morrison, to perform at the JAZZ IN THE VALLEY concert accompanied by his band on April 5, 2014. James Morrison is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word. Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones, double bass, piano and of course the digital trumpet. At only age 16 James debuted in the USA with a breathtaking concert at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Following this were performances at the big festivals in Europe including Montreaux, Pori, North Sea, Nice and Bern - playing with
many of the legends of jazz. Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Callo-way, Woody Shaw, Red Rodney, George Benson, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Ray Brown and Wynton Marsalis to name a few. There were also gigs in the worlds most famous jazz clubs - The Blue Note and Village Vanguard in New York, the New Morning in Paris and Ronnie Scotts in London. James will be supported on stage with his band to complete a fantastic line-up of musicians. |
Ensemble Formidable Ensemble Formidable are Australia’s premier live electro swing combo. The fully live 8-piece attack an array of instruments to play an infectiously fun blend of swing, manouche, dub step, klezmer and funk.
"Ensemble Formidable don’t walk onto the stage, they invade it!” Kulcha, WA. This eight-piece Fremantle collective meld more genres than any sane band would attempt. Gypsy jazz, Charleston, Django, tango, klezmer, dub and chook-step (the latter their own creation) to name a few. Their single, Industrial Chook, typifies their style: mellifluous and vigorously sung vocals, a social message delivered with oomph, violins and guitars swooping amid a damnably catchy horn hook. The band play, sing and cavort with more zest than a truck full of lemons.” – Trad & No |
PAIGE TRANTHAM Three times finalist in the Western Australian Music Industry ‘Song of the Year’ award Paige Trantham is an established local singer songwriter with a magical personality. “She melts and wins hearts with every breath she takes and every strum she makes” - Richard Lane (the stems).
With a 1950’s Jazz inspired style, Paige’s raw sound provokes thoughts of the classic female vocalist of Chicago’s Golden Era. Her complex layering of harmony’s infects your senses…. It starts with a tap of a foot and before you realize, your whole body is moving to the rhythm of her rich compositions. |
