Flourish 2014

Flourish is a sisterhood and no matter what ‘baggage’ each woman brings, there is acceptance. You BELONG. Flourish is an annual women’s event designed to celebrate each other, draw strength from each other and live vibrantly alongside each other.

What is Flourish?

Don’t confuse Flourish with high school pyjama parties with their gossip and bullying and trying to measure up to the glossy mags. At Flourish we value a woman of character, no pretense, just real and raw.

This Year's Speaker Is...

Karen Wilson is your neighbour, friend, colleague, sister – she’s as authentic as they come and listening to her will be like sitting down for a long coffee with a cherished confidante.

Karen is currently an Executive Minister at Riverview Church in Perth, WA, and State Director for the Baptist Women’s ministry. Previously, as the Executive Director for the Global Leadership Summit in Asia, Karen has established leadership teams in many nations across Asia through her work with the Willow Creek Association.

In short, she’s good with people.

Karen has always loved working with people from all walks of life. Her passion is seeing them grow and develop to their full potential. She thoroughly enjoys communicating and has a relational approach to leadership. She loves the challenge of solving problems and seeing people step into great spaces.

Karen is married to Mark Wilson who is the Director of Ministries for the Baptist Churches of WA. They have been married for 29 years and have two children; Daniel who is 24 and Katie who is 21.

Behind all the titles and important duties, Karen is the kind of person you can be yourself around. She loves time with friends but is also known to sneak off to the cinema on her own to see multiple movies, one after the other! She has a pioneering and adventurous spirit, parachuting is on her bucket list and she is unafraid of change. Not one for maintenance, she thrives in ever changing and dynamic environments.

Authenticity is Karen’s favourite word and, incidentally, this is the topic of her debut book titled The Inside Story, which explores who we are deep down inside and how we can live life authentically. She likes to ask: are you the same person inside and out?
