Shandong & Qingdao: Open for Business

The Australia China Development Company and The Confucius Institute presents 'Shandong & Qingdao: Open for Business’.


This briefing will provide an opportunity for you and your company to gain up to date and relevant information on doing business in China for 2014 and beyond with a particular focus on SA’s Wine & Seafood industry and the opportunities present in exporting to the city of Qingdao in our sister province of Shandong in China.

A Sister State relationship exists between Shandong Province and South Australia and Adelaide and Qingdao have a highly regarded cooperative city relationship.  


Adelaide and Qingdao established their Friendly Cooperative City status on the 29th of March 2000.


The 2014 OzAsia Festival will have a, Shandong theme. South Australia and Shandong Province established Sister State Level Relations in 1986


The 2014 and 2015 China Fisheries & Seafood Expo for will be held in Qingdao.


2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition (April to October 2014)  is organized by Qingdao Municipal Government and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).


We are advocating a streamlined Port to Port, City to City / State to Province trade agreement on Seafood and Aquaculture and combined participation in 2014 missions to Qingdao


We would use the Qingdao Port / Port Lincoln seafood trade agreement to establish new trade protocols on seafood exports, marine research and investment.


On the 6th of September 2013 a MoU for Economic Partnership between The Department of Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE) and the Qingdao Bureau of Commerce
The MoU will provide a mechanism for improved exchange of information on trade and investment in sectors such as marine science and research, food and beverage, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, mining and education


The seafood and a wine MoU will increase the economic edge and deeper cultural exchange to the current Qingdao / Adelaide cooperative city agreement and the Shandong Province and South Australia Sister State relationship.
