Buddy Holly was one of the greatest pioneers of Rock ’n’ Roll in the 1950s. Although his career spanned just two short years before the tragic day the music died, he left behind one of the most significant musical legacies of all time. With over 20 Top 40 hits recorded prior to his death in a plane crash—immortalised in Don McLean’s American Pie—Buddy Holly’s influence on popular music remains unmatched. His work inspired generations of artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Queen, and Elton John.
Showband Entertainment proudly presents Buddy: The Concert, a thrilling two-hour tour de force celebrating some of the greatest Rock ’n’ Roll classics ever recorded. Performed live on stage, the show features all the Buddy Holly hits including Peggy Sue, That’ll Be the Day, Rave On, Oh Boy, It’s So Easy and many more.
This high-energy production has received outstanding reviews everywhere it has toured. Packed with vitality and excitement, the show delivers both brilliant re-imaginings—such as Cameron’s extended blues guitar solo version of Well… All Right—and blindingly accurate, faithful recreations of the hits exactly as you remember hearing them.
Donning Buddy Holly’s trademark horn-rimmed glasses, complete with his engaging charisma and distinctive vocal hiccup, Scott Cameron returns to the role that made him famous. Known affectionately as “Buddy” Cameron, Scott was a childhood guitar prodigy in Australia, sharing stages with Tommy and Phil Emmanuel, Slim Dusty, Jade Hurley, Glen Shorrock, Ross Wilson, Keith Urban, Doug Parkinson, and Brian Cadd.
In 2004, Scott answered an audition call for the musical Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, a role that would define his career. His uncanny resemblance, eerily similar voice, and exceptional guitar prowess transformed him into the most recognised Buddy Holly performer in the world. Scott received the personal support of Buddy Holly’s family and close friends, including Maria Elena Holly, Peggy Sue, and Bob Montgomery—Buddy’s songwriting partner and writer of Heartbeat.
From 2005 to 2009, Scott received rave reviews worldwide for his portrayal of Buddy Holly in the lead role of the internationally acclaimed musical Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. The production toured extensively, including London’s West End, and played to Australian audiences for over a year, touring Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide, even receiving a civic reception from the City of Adelaide.
Over the past 15 years, Scott has performed as Buddy Holly more than 2,000 times, sold over one million tickets, broken five pairs of glasses, and knee-slid through countless pairs of pants.
Scott has also starred as the international lead in productions including Memories of Buddy Holly, The Class of ’59, Elvis Meets Buddy, Buddy & Roy, and several other touring shows, and has even appeared as Buddy Holly in film productions in the United States.
“Over the past 15 years, I’ve been incredibly lucky to continue playing the part of a man who inspired me in so many ways,” says Scott. “I have to keep reminding myself that this is real. I feel like the luckiest man alive—blessed to be doing what I love and keeping alive the legacy of the man who inspired me most.”
Scott is joined on stage by a three-piece band, featuring some of the finest Australian and international musicians, delivering a powerful, authentic, and unforgettable Rock ’n’ Roll experience.
