Nigel Hadgkiss the ABCC Commissioner as he discusses the reintroduction of the Australian Building & Construction Commission along with the transition to the ABCC and what it means for building industry participants; activities of the ABCC since the transition and his priorities for the next 12 months.

Nigel became Commissioner, ABCC following the reintroduction of the agency in December 2016.  He has previously worked as:

• Director, Fair Work Building & Construction (FWBC)


• Director, Construction Code Compliance, Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance


• Executive Director, DPP NSW


• Deputy Commissioner, ABCC


• Director Building Industry Taskforce


• National Director of Intelligence, Australian Crime Commission


• Assistant Commissioner, Australian Federal Police

Nigel has been the recipient of a Winston Churchill Fellowship and holds Bachelor of Laws and Master of Commerce degrees from the University of NSW.  He was awarded the Australian Police Medal (APM) in the 1995 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his role as Director of Operations with the Wood Royal Commission into the NSW Police.
