Event Description
The Australian Independent Music Video Awards are undertaken to provide recognition and incentive to filmmakers and musicians creating original new works. Now into a second decade, the Awards are one of the few truly independent music video awards that is not owned/controled by media or corporate entities and of growing world recognition. With over 50 categories inclusive of both Australian and International Awards the AIMVAs are the most comprehensive industry recognition for the burgeoning music video sector. Finalists are encouraged to attend with winners making a brief speech during their presentation.
In 2013 the Awards are held in the ARC Theatre of the National Film & Sound Archive in Canberra. Paired with a Dolby Digital EX sound system the Arc cinema is a state-of-the-art venue capable of screening all manner of film formats from the early days of silent film through to the latest digital 3D images and a proud host to the Independent Music Video Awards.
Disabled access is available through the NFSA’s Liversidge Street entrance. There is a complete hearing aid loop in the Arc Cinema, designed to cover the entire seating area.
