The multi-award-winning Convict Footprints on the Old Great North Road is a unique and immersive 'living history' theatre-in-the-wild production telling the stories of those who lived, and worked on the road in the 1830s. At times funny, at times heart-touching but always entertaining, you will walk the road as guests of the Colony guided by Major Mitchell and Lieutenant Simpson. Along the way you will meet the overseer, witness convicts at work, hear stories about the hardships and see fascinating features of this amazing UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LISTED road. Finally you end up at the Convict Stockade where you will share tea and damper with the Convicts as they share some of their personal stories around the camp-fire. The play is performed by professional actors interacting with audiences throught the journey.
Please note that there is NO PARKING at the bottom of Devine's Hill. All parking is South Side of Hawkesbury River, guests will be met by a NPWS officer and directed as pedestrians onto the ferry. A bus will take them to the site. The walk up Devine's Hill forms part of the play and is a moderate 1km uphill with many stops along the way. Sensible footwear/clothing is advised. Tea and damper will be served at the Stockade with the Convicts. Those with dietary needs may wish to bring their own.
A Family Ticket is for 2 adults and 2 children. Please note there is some bawdy language and a vigorous flogging!
