SATURDAY

11.30am – 12.15pm: Sparkling Wine, and the Importance of Being Aged

Presenters: Karina Dambergs, Wine Maker; Shane Hollaway Owner and Winemaker, Delamere Vineyard

Sparkling wine is one of the few styles where the producers do the aging for you. Do sparkling winemakers just have bigger hearts, or is there more to this story? This masterclass will reveal all, and give you the chance to taste for yourself the effects of ‘tirage age' on sparkling wines of different styles.

1.00 pm -1.45pm: GIN...beyond juniper

Presenters: Natalie Frier, Head Distiller Abel GIN Co; Drew Burns, Mixologist, Cinco Passiones; Ruby Daly, Hellfire Bluff Distillery

The spirit of choice these days, ‘GIN', is undergoing a revival in popularity in the hands of the next generation of craft distillers.  Join local Distiller Natalie Fryar from The Abel GIN co. who will lead you through an in depth discussion and interactive tasting of Tasmanian Gins Abel and Hellfire and Mixologist Drew Burns from Cinco Passiones who will show you how to indulge in some fabulous GIN cocktails….and sample the results!

2.30pm -3.15 pm: James Boags – Four Beers, Four Cheese

Presenters: Nathan Calman, Head Brewer, James Boags Brewery; Ueli Berger, Head Cheese Maker, Lion

Contrary to popular belief, beer is a fantastic accompaniment to cheese. Taste your way through a selection of beers from award winning James Boags Brewery accompanied with iconic King Island cheeses. A class that will satisfy both beer lovers and cheesaholics!

4.00pm – 4.45pm: Indulge - Chocolate and Wine

Presenters: Natasha Nieuwhof, Goaty Hill Wines, Theresa Streefland Cocobean Chocolate

Come and indulge with a special tasting honouring two of life's greatest pleasures: Chocolate and wine.  We'll sample a range of artisan chocolates and pair them up with a handpicked selection of delicious Tasmanian wines to complement each other. Just as grapes are grown and nurtured for the quality of great wine, the same is true for cocoa beans and chocolate. We believe there is much more to recommending wine than asking “red or white?”, and we think there’s more to recommending chocolate than simply “milk or dark?”.
