One of Australia’s most outstanding vocalists Jon Jackson has joined forces again with his former Great Big Opera Company cohort and musical director Greg Riddell to perform a brand new show “It's My Party”.
In the 1980s and 90s, Melbourne cabaret trio ‘Jon Jackson & the Great Big Opera Company’ swept onto the local and international music scene with their unique takes on 1960s pop anthems. Now they’re back in 2013 with front man and vocalist Jon Jackson overlaying his enormous vocal range on the lush orchestrations and infectious beats supplied by keyboard wizard Greg Riddell. An operatically trained counter-tenor, Jon Jackson has the vocal capability to sing just about anything at all, and does. The musical repertoire of this show extends from the cool sophistication of Bacharach and the power ballads of Shirley Bassey and Dusty Springfield to the country twang of Tammy Wynette and on occasion, to the passion of Grand Opera.
Original and refreshingly funny, together they launch a cavalcade of the world’s greatest pop classics on Brighton’s newest live entertainment venue - ‘House of Pan’. This exotically decorated Victorian building is situated inside the original Middle Brighton Railway Station in the heart of Church Street Brighton. With its high ceilings and rather grand atmosphere, it is the perfect setting for an evening of sophisticated musical fun.
