KINKY FRIEDMAN - A JOURNEY IN TIME

The Texas Jewboy Returns To Sydney, Brisbane, And Melbourne

Austin - Kinky Friedman may have been returned to the private sector by his fellow Texans in his Texas State Agriculture Commissioner political run this year, but he is still the Governor Of the Heart Of Texas.  In fact, if Kinky had been able to count votes from other states outside of Texas, he’d have won in a landslide.  Alas, it was not to be.

What is to be is Kinky Friedman - A Journey In Time, and it’s coming to three of Kinky’s most beloved places, Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne in January, with performances at The Vanguard in Sydney January 16-18, the New Globe Theatre in Brisbane January 22, and at The Caravan Music Club in Melbourne January 23-24.  And he’s coming to gather the tribes.

There will be two tribes in particular gathering to greet Kinky in Australia, two tribes with whom Kinky has much in common.  They are the Australian Sex Party and Shir Madness, presenter of the yearly Jewish Music Festival in Sydney.  Though the Kinkster does consider himself to be a sexy guy, it is not sex that draws him to the Sex Party, but its forward thinking policies on drug law reform (for which Kinky campaigned openly in Texas), education, the environment, and support of art and live music.  Remember: Kinky is based near Austin, self-proclaimed Live Music Capitol Of The World.  Keeping it live and real is of great importance to the lad.

Of course, little needs to be explained about Kinky’s interest in Shir Madness - it does, after all, represent Kinky’s own tribe.  Shir Madness featured Kinky at the last Jewish Music Festival, but, because Kinky cannot come to Shir Madness for this year’s festival, Shir Madness will come to Kinky.  Yes, these tribes will gather for the Kinkster.

Of course Kinky will sing for for everyone, tribal or not.  There will definitely be sing alongs to many of his beloved tunes, from Ole Ben Lucas (Had A Lot Of Mucus), to They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore.

Kinky, who has become the quintessential Jewish Troubadour, is just finishing up the the final chapters of a new novel, The Hard-Boiled Computer, featuring the long awaited return of his eponymous detective, and he has dates in Germany, Austria and Switzerland directly following his Aussie trip.  Says Kinky: “Germans are my second favorite people.  My first favorite is everybody else.”

Even bigger Kinky news will be forthcoming very soon, as he and his crack team of Jewboy lawyers are about to announce a very big TV deal to the world.  Word about this should be coming down in a matter of days.  It might involve an Aussie company!  Stay tuned!

For right now, though, Kinky is thinking only of coming back to Australia and enlarging the Kinky Friedman tribe.  His goal: make every Aussie an exclusive member of it.

Come to a Kinky show.  Join the tribe.  Pass it on, or visit the website: www.kinkyfriedman.com. Pass it on anyway. They ain’t makin’ Jews like Kinky anymore.
