About the Master Class


Water ingress is the largest cause of defects in buildings today and designers including Architects are increasingly being held responsible.


Learn the fundamental principles of water-shedding, why it's more important than just waterproofing and how to incorporate them into day-to-day design practices.


You will learn the most common myths, mistakes and misconceptions when it comes to waterproofing key areas such as basements, balconies and roofs.

- Describe why the current building design process causes leaks.


- Identify key risk areas of a building for water penetration.


- Differentiate between the principle of water-shedding and the practice of water-proofing.


- Identify the potential defects hidden in your current designs and how to eliminate them.


- Apply water-shedding principles to improve design and manage risk of litigation.


- Integrate essential components of structural and hydraulic engineers designs with architectural drawings to prevent water penetration.

Presenter Biography



Ross Taylor is a specialist-waterproofing consultant providing strategic advice and expert witness services to building owners, managers, architects, contractors and lawyers. With over 40 years experience in the design of waterproofing detailing, Ross provides diagnosis and rectification of water penetration issues in new and existing buildings for Commercial, Strata, residential and industrial structures.

2. Membership discounts –AIA and MBA members are entitled to the discounts shown, provided their membership number is quoted when the booking is made, and their membership subscription is active at the time of booking.


3. Cancellations by Ross Taylor Associates –RTAS reserve the right to cancel or alter the dates, speakers or venue. In the event of cancellation, bookings will be transferred to the next available event unless the registrant requests otherwise.


4. Cancellations by attendee –Cancellations by the attendee must be received in writing. No refunds or cancellations are permitted within two (2) full working days prior to the event. Unfortunately 'no shows' cannot be refunded.


5. Members who register, and fail to cancel will incur a cancellation fee.
