It’s a commonly held view that people who perform best in business are extroverts. Sure, the likes of Zaha Hadid, Philippe Starck and Marcel Wanders add weight to this assumption; each with their own seemingly ostentatious personality and larger-than-life public persona. But what are they like behind closed doors, when there’s no new product to launch or no recently completed building to open?
This hotly-debated issue has many in the industry questioning whether extroverts are infact the opposite of what the industry needs right now – petitioning that it takes an ambivert to be a successful design leader.
Featuring some of our DQ Designpreneur heavy-weight personalities, we will unearth what traits you need to become a true “business of design” leader, and discover if our industry calls for an entirely new breed of power personality in the post-GFC design economy?

Alexander Lotersztain, Derlot; Jason Bird, Luxxbox; Tomek Archer, Archer Office; Christopher Boots, Christopher Boots Design; Melonie Bayl-Smith, Bijl Architecture; Todd Hammond, Woods Bagot; Tim Giles, Geyer and Paul Hecker, Hecker Guthrie
