Community planting day - Joondalup

Join the City of Joondalup during Reconciliation Week for a morning of planting and reflection. 

The City was successful in receiving grant funding through WALGA’s Urban Greening Grant Program to host a Reconciliation Week Community Planting Day in Yellagonga Regional Park. 

Help us to plant almost 1,000 native seedlings to expand the tree canopy and vegetation cover within Yellagonga Regional Park, addressing the impacts of climate change, providing habitat and food sources for native fauna, and increasing biodiversity. This is your chance to help us make a difference in our community! 

In addition to rejuvenating this important natural area, we’ll also take part in a special Reconciliation Week ceremony for the chance to pause and reflect on our journey towards reconciliation.

Full training, equipment and assistance will be provided on the day.

Important information

Accessibility: Crushed limestone and asphalt pathways from the designated parking location. The planting site is mostly flat terrain, with a slight incline on the return journey to the car park. A reasonable level of fitness is required for this event.  

What to bring: Sunscreen, water bottle and gardening gloves. Please dress appropriately for the weather (a raincoat and/or a hat may be required) and wear enclosed shoes that are suitable for walking through bush terrain. The planting site is a natural environment area and ticks may be present, so wearing  long sleeves and insect repellent is also recommended. 

Parking: Please use the designated car park on the corner of Lakeside Drive and Joondalup Drive. ACROD parking is also available at this location. No parking is permitted on the verge or median strips along Lakeside Drive or Joondalup Drive. Refer to the map below. 

Important note: Due to current road works on Joondalup Drive, there is no access to Yalbunullup Mountian Bike Trails at the Lakeside Drive/Joondalup Drive intersection. Please use Shenton Avenue to access Lakeside Drive.
