Event Description
In 2020 Conversations will again draw in a range of speakers including fishermen, scientists, farmers, chefs and Indigenous knowledge keepers to explore the hot button issues that affect the ocean and the land, and how we as humans can live with both in harmony rather than depleting and destroying.
The morning session will be ‘Submerged in the Ocean’ and will explore:
- the current state of the ocean and it’s inhabitants with our local fishermen
- 3D ocean farming
- reef restoration programs
- the use of seaweed as feed supplement to reduce methane output in stock animals
- origin labeling for seafood in the food service industry
The afternoon session will be ‘Submerged in the Land’ and will explore
- eating animals – or not – making fully informed decisions
- soil carbon capture and sequestration strategies for farmers
- the use of native grains and grasses as future food sources
- the land meets the ocean on the table
