Event Description
Discovery Session - Bokashi Bucket

Food waste is the least recycled waste we make and accounts for most of the waste in our landfills. Learn what to do with food and garden scraps through the bokashi bucket system. No more smelly compost or dead worms! You can even process bread and meat!

Peg is a waste educator with over 16 years’ experience and has worked in local government, schools, and the wider community.
Peg has always been interested in bins, rubbish, and sewerage and ‘talks rubbish’ for a job with a passion. With 40+ years living in inner-suburban Perth, she has explored the challenges of our city through the project  The Last Tip.

Peg believes the way we choose to live, work, and play in Perth and its surrounds can be either excessive or frugal and sees wonderful, interesting examples in both business and domestic ways of dealing with the wealth, climate, and isolation of our state. Many people and organisations have risen to the challenge of dealing with ‘waste’ – so when we see innovation in this area, there’s great satisfaction in giving the response of: ‘that’s a good idea’ and spreading it further. Her work in rubbish has won multiple awards including the ‘Waste Champion 2011’ WA State Government, ‘Best Educational Product’ 2011 Australian Business Awards Mindarie Regional Council Tours Program, Highly Commended Mindarie Regional Council Earth Carers, Infinity Awards 2013.

Cost $5. Book and pay online.
