Through an interactive hive display and hands-on presentation, Luke will educate you on all aspects of bee life, including how to protect and care for them. Discover the wonders of bees and consider starting your own beekeeping journey today.

About the presenter
Luke de Laeter was fortunate enough to be immersed in nature as a child giving him a love for the environment and biodiversity. His bee obsession began when he was given a hive for his 14th birthday. With an oversupply of honey and requests to speak to children about his passion he set up a business, Luke’s Bees. This allowed him to sell honey and present “Bee Incursions” at schools, festivals, and community groups.

While still in school, Luke completed his Certificate III in Beekeeping and Certificate III in Business, graduating in 2020. Remarkably, he finished school on a Friday and started working as a Commercial Beekeeper with Red Earth Honey the following Monday. Later that year, Luke was named the winner of the prestigious Beazley Medal VET, presented by the then-Governor Kim Beazley, as well as recognition at the Australian Meeting of Junior Beekeepers in Tasmania.

In 2021, Luke relaunched his business as Buzz Ed Australia, enabling him to continue teaching students of all ages, from kindy to year 12. He also offers an online course accessible through his website, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to educating everyone about the importance of bees. Luke's goal is to continue to share his knowledge and inspire others. He believes bee education is essential for understanding the important link between bees and our sustainable future.
