Event Description
Discovery Session - Tales of a diver

Join Luke McCulloch as he shares his adventures as a search and rescue diver with the WA Police Force, from the thrilling challenges of the selection course to a heart-pounding 10-day operation that brought his team face-to-face with Great White sharks. Learn about the profound personal and family impacts and sacrifices of this demanding career.

Luke McCulloch "Macca" has been a Police Officer for most of his adult life and served the community of Western Australia for 15 years. During the last 8 years, he took on a role at the Dive Search and Rescue squad where he formed part of an 8-person team to cover the state with under water searching and recovery.

His memoir Tales of a Diver - Obscurus Profundus Sordidus tells of his journey to get into the squad which consisted of a long and arduous selection course, the psychology of doing what he did in nil-visibility water and the effects the job had on his family life.

He now has a more simple and routine life outside the Police Force, where he trains members from the Oil and Gas industry on how to escape helicopters that crash into the water.

Cost $5. Book and pay online.

Please note, the presentation will run for approximately one hour and refreshments are included.
