Discovery Session - Terracotta Warriors

One of the most spectacular exhibitions in the history of the WA Museum has arrived in Perth. The Terracotta Warriors exhibition displays over 200 ancient Chinese treasures.

Facilitator, Celina Chen’s talk “Making Sense of the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition: understanding the value behind the relics” is designed to help audiences see the exhibition with fresh eyes and deeper insight - beyond admiring the craftsmanship, toward truly appreciating the meaning behind each artefact.

During her own visit, she was struck by the beauty and intimacy of the displays, but also felt that many visitors, while curious, left without enough context to fully connect. It felt like a moment of meeting without truly recognising. That’s what inspired this lecture series: to bridge that gap and bring the stories to life.

The talk will include:

• Making Sense of the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition: understanding the value behind the relics


• The ambitions and legacy of Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor


• The philosophies that shaped the army and their vision of the afterlife


• Xi’an as the cultural heart of the Qin dynasty


• And how this heritage blossomed into the Tang Dynasty and the Silk Road

Please note this Discovery Session is intended to compliment your own visit to see the Terracotta Warriors displayed at the WA Museum Bool Bardip and does not include a tour of the exhibition. 

The presentation will run for approximately one hour and refreshments are included.
