Festivale Presents Tamar Valley Wine Route Experiences
Indulge in a palate-pleasing array of Tasmanian wine, beer, spirits and produce. Engage with some of Tasmania’s most inspirational food and beverage producers.
Each session will be held in the Exhibition Space 3 at Design Tasmania. Design Tasmania is located on the western edge of City Park on the corner of Tamar and Brisbane Streets.
Access to the classes in the Park Room will only be available via Festivale entry gates. An entry ticket to Festivale will be required on the day to attend Master Class(s).
Master Class tickets will also be available from Toxfree Festivale Information tent at the event if not sold out prior to Festivale.
SATURDAY 11th FEBRUARY 2017
11:30am – 12:15pm Sparkling- It is a Point of Different
Presenters: Dr Andrew Pirie, Apogee and Fran Austin, Delamere Vineyard
Take an in depth look at examples of different sparkling styles produced in Tasmania including non vintage, traditional, blanc de blanc and late disgorged. How does terroir, vinification methods and winemaker preference impact these wine styles?

1:00pm – 1:45pm Plumm Glassware – How Your Glass Makes a Difference
Presenters: Jared Dickason, Plumm and Julian Allport, Moores Hill Winery
Join Plumm Glassware expert, Jared Dickason and Tamar Valley wine maker, Julian Allport, as they take you through a tasting of incredible Tasmanian wines and explain how the correct wine glass can enhance the drinking experience beyond your imagination.You can turn an already excellent wine into an incredible wine, enhancing the tasting sensation.

2.30pm - 3.15pm James Boag & King Island Cheese – Four Beers, Four Cheeses
Presenters: Nathan Calman, Head Brewer James Boag Brewery and Ueli Berger, Head Cheese Maker Lion
Contrary to popular belief beer is a fantastic accompaniment to cheese.Taste your way through a selection of beers from award winning James Boag Brewery accompanied with iconic King Island cheeses. A class that will satisfy both beer lovers and cheesaholics!

4.00pm – 4.45pm Indulge - Chocolate and Wine
Presenters: Natasha Nieuwhof, Goaty Hill Wines and Theresa Streefland, Cocobean Chocolate
Come and indulge in a special tasting honouring two of life's greatest pleasures, chocolate and wine. We will sample a range of artisan chocolates and pair them with a handpicked selection of delicious Tasmanian wines. Just as grapes are grown and nurtured for the quality of great wine, the same is true for cocoa beans and chocolate. We believe there is much more to recommending wine than asking “red or white?” and we think there’s more to recommending chocolate than simply “milk or dark?”

10.30am – 11.15am Best Of The Best
Presenters: Curly Haslam Coates, Vintage Tasmania, Rebecca Duffy, Holm Oak Vineyards and James Welch, Sommelier and Co-Owner, Stillwater and Black Cow
Join the 2017 Festivale Wine Award judges Rebecca Duffy, James Welch and Curly Haslam Coates as they lead you through a tasting of the winning wines from this year's awards and explain why these wines are considered to be the best of the best.

12.00pm -12.45pm - Riesling the Chameleon of the Wine World
Presenters: Stewart Byrne, Josef Chromy and Richard Evans, Eddystone Point/ Bay of Fires
Tasmania's cool climate produces intense and elegant rieslings with racy acidity. A lot of people think Riesling is sweet, but you can find the full spectrum of riesling in Tasmania - from crisp dry rieslings through to luscious dessert wines.

Presenters: Penny Jones, Bay Of Fires and Peter Caldwell, Dalrymple
Part of Pinot Noir’s intrigue is the diversity in style among different wines. Join two highly experienced winemakers as they discuss how their approach to Pinot Noir from sub-regions of Tasmania and within the Tamar Valley.

3.00pm – 3.45pm Champions of the Tasmanian Cider Trail
Presenters: Karina Dambergs, Red Brick Road Cider and Mark Robertson, Lost Pippin
Join us for a taste of what makes the Tasmanian Cider Trail great. We will sample a range of award winning and unique ciders and perries, including the winners of this year's Festivale Cider Awards. Join the judges as they discuss the people, places and craft production methods that are shaping the growing Tassie cider industry.
