Australian virtuoso James Morrison is returning to Generations in Jazz in 2017 with his vast array of instruments to perform an encyclopaedic repertoire of jazz with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
From Armstrong to Zawinul, the 2017 GIJ Gala Concert covers the full trajectory of jazz.
Who better to take you on a guided tour of jazz music than James Morrison, one of the finest jazz players of our generation?
As part of James Morrison’s 30th anniversary, celebrating his involvement in the festival, it is fitting that we bring back some of our favourite national and international artists who have been part of this incredible journey.
Mount Gambier will become home to jazz royalty in May when legendary award-winning Romanian jazz pianist Marian Petrescu, American pianist, saxophonist, composer, arranger and conductor, Gordon Goodwin, US jazz sensation Wycliffe Gordon on trombone, Australian trumpeter and educator, Mat Jodrell and keyboard player and backing vocalist from The Cat Empire, Oliver McGill, perform alongside the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in a very special Generations in Jazz Festival concert.
Also joining us as a guest vocalists, will be Australian singer Darren Percival and one of the hottest, rapidly rising young jazz singers, Jazzmeia Horn.
Each year we aim to deliver the very best for those who visit the state for Generations in Jazz and what better way to celebrate in style with the entire Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
The always-brilliant and endlessly generous James Morrison has excelled himself in gathering together this stellar band of extraordinary world-class jazz musicians.
Don’t miss this rare chance to experience, a very special show at Generations in Jazz!
