Calling all funkfreaks, bassheads and raggamuffin crew! Kuranda Roots is back in June with a mad line up of exceptional artists to blow your kundalini into the orgasmosphere.
Digging deep into the fertile grit of the musical underground, we have unearthed Melbourne's stupendously talented Kooyeh. You ain't heard a pocket of deep reggae and soulful funk since Toots and the Maytals! Joining them are fellow sound pirates, The Rosie Misschief Gang and The Sea Gypsy Orchestra fresh form a huge summer tour of NZ and the major festivals. Kingpin of the bass music scene, Jerry Poon aka JPS (the man behind the Operatives label - Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus) will be bringing his mega bass grooves to the Dreadagade stage.
Returning from Byron Bay are dancehall kings the 4'20 Sound. The last year has seen them work and collaborate with the biggest names in reggae, from General Levy, Gappy Ranks, Parly B and Ed Solo. On the local front we are delighted to announce the pioneers of Australian roots reggae - MANTAKA! Uncle Willy Brim will be serving up special dub versions of their classic tunes. We also have the world class blues band the Montgomery Brothers- led by Ryo Montgomery, son of legendary bluesman Ric Montgomery, they have just returned from wowing crowds across South America and the USA. From Kuranda we are delighted to announce reggae and rocksteady flame holders Koahlition, the fresh wild talent of Zara Betts, Koah's DJ Mistickal Dubmaker, Speewah's OmBudsMan and junglist extraodinaire DJ Dubcide.
