KURANDA ROOTS FESTIVAL 2022

BACK TO THE ROOTS
Kuranda Roots July 15-17 2022

Kuranda Roots is the longest-running outdoor roots and reggae festival in Australia. Since 2003 Kuranda Roots has been a mainstay of the North Qld Events calendar and has played host to scores of Australian and international acts, from UK dub pioneer Mad Professor, Dancehall legends Mungos Hifi and Soom T, raggamuffin king Tippa Irie, NZ’s Dub Terminator,  Kingfisha, Kooii, King Tide, The Bird and Cornerstone Roots. Kuranda Roots is also a vital showcase of local FNQ talent where some of the regions greatest live acts and music producers are invited to bring their magic to the stage.

Kuranda Roots Festival will take place from July 15-17 at Kanjini located at the foot of lush Emerald Creek Falls in Buluwai Country, Far North Queensland.
We are very excited to announce our FULL  line up release - featuring Trans-Tasman soul dubsters Sub-Tribe, Reggae producer and activist Monkey Marc, world famous drummer extraordinaire Benjamin Walsh’s live Jungle Show, Brisbane’s super funky Chocolate Strings, Melbourne’s boss selecta Lady Banton, NZ’s Rayjah45, North African kora extraordinaire Julian Bel-bachir, Brisbane’s ska raggamuffins The MadTones ft Torres Bradley, Kuranda legends of roots rock reggae The Pad Boys, the silken vibes of Cinnamon Sun, tropical faves The Zephyrbees, Manuka, ZDC, Jesse Whitney, Chilacayote, Faux Mo, Secret Tuesdays, Solomon, Old Man River, Mr Molecule, Komorebi, Djarraway, Djinnah, Camo Koala, Audiopirate, Dubcide, Mistickal Dubmaker, Spring Jaiah, Scout, Tasty DJ, Psyd FX, Solua (duo), Art of Connection, Seijin Sound, Ondrayaz and Spotty Dot. They will be joined by an eclectic program of fun workshops, a festival art gallery and a food and craft village

Kanjini is a breathtaking site at the base of the Emerald Creek Falls, approximately 35km from Kuranda Village and 15 minutes from Mareeba. Emerald Creek tumbles out of the rainforest mountains of the great dividing range and into the sclerophyll and savannah landscape below. This is a bio-diversity hot-spot of extremely high ecological & cultural importance. STRICTLY NO DOGS OR PETS. We urge everyone to respect the land and take all waste away with them. We will be running bush re-gen around the festival site, so in addition to leaving no negative trace, we intend to leave a positive impact on the land. Kuranda Roots is encouraging an Alcohol & Drug Free/family friendly event out of respect for the Buluwai/Djabugay elders in attendance.
