Global collaborations within and between companies are typically organized in multinational teams consisting of members from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Despite the potential benefits of multinational teams, various challenges to collaboration persist. These challenges are particularly prevalent in Australia, where companies must manage a diverse workforce across large geographic distance.
In this seminar, we will present some key results from recent studies on collaboration and leadership in multinational teams, focusing on topics such as Eastern-Western teams, Australia’s diverse workforce, and multicultural competences. Based on the results of the studies, key challenges of multinational teamwork will be presented, along with suggestions of how to successfully overcome such challenges and install effective multinational teamwork.
Please join us for a light breakfast and to hear from Dr Amy Tian, Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Curtin Business School and benefit from her 20+ years’ experience of research on successful teamwork.
