Event Description

Despite what the weatherman, entropy and the 3rd law of thermodynamics would have you think, we are experiencing the dawn of a much welcomed thermal shift. This planetary tilt presents us with an attractive incline towards steamier heights. This is a positive energy emissions trading scheme we can all get behind. As for this October 21st, we give ourselves an opportunity to savour Exotic matter of the cultural and cosmological kind. Come swelter in the shelter of the Soiree Utropia Connections Nightclub for another vibe-guided public projection. (It's another Outer body experience obvi.)
Those prone to Yay fever proceed with caution as the air will be thick with odious tones that may cause areas of excitement.

⚘ Honey Soundsystem ⚘ (Jason Kendig & Jackie House)
Honey Soundsystem is the San Francisco DJ crew made up of Jason Kendig, Jacob Sperber aka Jackie House, Josh Cheon, and Robot Yang aka Beziér. Honey Soundsystem is responsible for helping start three labels Honey Soundsystem Records, Disciare, and Dark Entires. They call San Francisco home.
Honey Soundsystem is a collective of disc jockeys, musicians, performers and designers. Co-founders Ken Woodard and Jacob Sperber formed in January 2006, after seeing severe gaps in San Francisco nightlife. They were inspired by pivotal gay underground parties, who offered a take on dance music in direct opposition to what was blaring on mainstream club speakers.
Their parties host DJ’s from around the world, including DJ Sprinkles, Todd Terje, Prosumer, Boris, Steffi, Horse Meat Disco, Discodromo, Eric Duncan, Derek Plaslaiko, Maurice Fulton, Kink, Ivan Smagghe, Traxx, Silent Servant, Daniel Wang, Hunee, Optimo, Derrick Carter, Portable, Hard Ton, Tim Sweeney, Kim Ann Foxman, Mr. Ties, Honey Dijon, Steve Fabus, Bobby Viteritti, and Mike Servito. Since then the crew has gone on to throw a steady stream of larger, one-off parties and the occasional underground. The crew is known to build massive, elaborate, party-specific installations to enhance their nightlife antics.
Musically, the existence of Honey has shaped and transformed all that was possible for each member. Record labels were formed such as Honey’s flagship HNYTRX, Discaire, and Cheon’s Dark Entries. Together the four resurrected the lost gay porn soundtracks of San Francisco’s Hi-NRG producer Patrick Cowley. Individually and as a team, the four have gone on to DJ critically acclaimed sets in New York, DC, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and Philadelphia as well as internationally, in Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, London, Paris, and even the far reaches of Shanghai. Honey are constantly meditating on the historical past in order to inform the future. One can only imagine what the future will bring as the boys continue to grow, hone, and discover what is within reach and possible with their combined talents.

❁ Kai Alce ❁ (NDATL Musik)
Perhaps it’s a combination of his Haitian roots, his youth spent in St. Croix, and his New York City upbringing. It is evident when he steps behind the turntables or CDJs, where he is at once clearly comfortable and believe it or not, just a tad bit nervous.
After more than 20 years in the business, yes, “The Kaizer” still gets butterflies.

That’s probably what makes Kai Alce (pronounced al-SAY) such a force: He doesn’t settle down, blend in or go along. That integrity comes through in every gig he’s worked – from his early days at Detroit’s Music Institute when he was just teenager, to the 10-year-long DEEP legacy at MJQ that he co-founded, to the production company, NDATL, that he created in 2008.
Added an already impressive career as a DJ from the mid 90s, in 2002, Kai Alce’s journey as a recording artist began with his first commercial release on the seminal label Track Mode. The Kaizer EP was warmly received by worldwide audiences. Since then, Kai has released music on Detroit staple labels Mahogani Music (Moodyman’s label), FXHE (Omar S) & Real Soon (UK) and Deep Explorer Recordings.
In 2008, Alce’s own imprint, N.D.ATL Muzik, was born. N.D.ATL is an acronym for New York, Detroit and Atlanta, the three places that have cultivated the sounds and tones of the label’s releases. N.D.ATL Muzik projects include The Floating EP, which received critical acclaim from DJs around the world. The second single, Power Through Part 3, the vocal continuation of Power Thru Pt 1 which was originally released on his first EP. Finding its release in 2008, the single was charted by various DJs around the world, included on Steve Bug’s compilation for NRK and Cassy’s In The Mix compilation for Cocoon Recordings. N.D.ATL Muzik also started a three-part 12” series in tribute to the legendary Music Institute, in which he calls on all of his mentors and peers from Detroit who were part of the Music Institute scene. Projects with collaborators such as Jovonn, Alton Miller, Chez Damier, Phil Asher, Roland Clark, Azulu Phantom, Omar S have also proven Kai’s vast textures & sounds. So plan on future N.D.ATL Muzik releases to leave their indelible mark on this thing we call house.
What’s good is that, just like always, Alce is ready to put in work – staying true to house music, DJing for DJing’s sake, pushing himself … and us on the dancefloor.
Whether it’s after a night of intense dancing at the club, a session in the booth or studio, or any other creative endeavor, as long as it’s done with truth and sincerity,
