Tour details
'Convicts, Crimes & Cockatoo Island' enables Year 3 and 4 students to virtually explore our former convict prison (1839-69) from their home or the classroom using interactive 360° images and features. Your class will learn about the world events that led to the British colonisation of Australia as well as what it was like to live and work at Cockatoo Island during the convict era.
Critically, students will develop their historical enquiry skills as they examine buildings, listen to diary entries, and engage with other historical sources. The tour follows a linear format so it is easy to navigate and students will be prompted to complete a worksheet as they move from one stop to the next.
PLUS: The teacher resource pack outlines the NSW Syllabus and Australian Curriculum Outcomes covered in the tour. The transcript is also offered throughout the tour to provide Access for students who require or prefer text-based learning.
