Sonic Furnace - Extreme Music Mini-Festival is about fast, loud, heavy, noise and strange creativity all coming together to make an enjoyable day for people who enjoy extreme music it all it’s forms. Wether it’s guitars tuned way down, lightning fast drum beats or smashing things just because it sounds interesting and ranting over the sound, this festival has it all.

Unravel is heading this festival. A relentless mix of thundering drums and hellish guitar riffs, with growling vocals and themes so dark you’re grandmother would think this is The Exorcist in real life. Truly on of the most exciting bands in WA at the moment!

Drain Life travel from the far off lands of Melbourne as part of their national tour. They describe themselves “Death/Grind/sillybuggers” so amongst blistering, face melting music you know these guys are really just here for a good time, have a laugh and get loose at the bar, probably end up at your house doing bucket bongs and pass out on your floor.

Self Harm are the sounds in your head if your brain was a haunted psychiatric ward and all the patients well yelling at once when someone turned the lights were off! If you listen to their band camp, the music is truly frightening and wonderful at the same time.

Ohm Rune are bass and drums, come together to weave heavy riffs together in a slowed down, tuned down, heavy rock style born of greats such as Black Sabbath. What these 2 guys can do with only a bands rhythm section will surely impress.

Rabid Abbott are a crustpunk/grindcore blend. Organically grown and grinded down south in Margaret River, they have their own take on typical 80’s UK hardcore styles of music, such as Napalm Death or Discharge. Rabid Abbott don’t do things by half, their first gig was with Captain Cleanoff, The Kill and FaceGrinder!

Damage Wave are an interesting band. Scythie is a ranting front man who can hold an audience in awe or fear. He explores whatever weird and wonderful things are on his mind and blurts them out in a poetic and disturbing manner. He looks like a crazed manic and he’s likely to threaten audience to participate. Recently Damage Wave were booked on a show but only him and a bass player showed up and still managed to have the whole room mesmerised. Damage Wave has new members, but I don’t think this band even comes down to how good the music is or isn’t or even who provides the soundtrack to Scythie’s world, It’s his world and you’re invited, if you dare?

Dead Root are a new grind two piece from Melbourne, on tour with Drain Life. Not much is know about these guys except they have some lo-fi recording’s on Soundcloud, and from best can be deciphered play dirty grindcore.

Fur Chick is a noise artist. She works with all manner of pedal effects and gadgets to create droning, banging crashing noises and layer them in a soundscape. Fur Chick will draw you in and spit up out at the end. You’ll be thinking what did i just see…you be telling you friends about the amazing way she created a sound with something you’ve never thought of before. More than likely some object will get broken or sacrificed in the process of this performance. Theres no way to know exactly what to expect from a act like Fur Chick, guaranteed to be different ever time.

WitchCliff are tuned down, heavy riffing band. This band is all about the riff. Slow and simple but effective in their delivery. Drawing influence from bands like EYEHATEGOD and Sleep, it’s the kind of thing you groove too with a slow nod and a half baked smile.
