Trance Central Presents: Sounds Of The Underground - Matrix Reloaded.
In 1994, Toby, better known in the scene as DJ MATRIX, discovered rave music & the joys of DJing & record collecting.
In the 25 years since, MATRIX has constantly re-defined the sonic experience on the dance floors of Australia.
A top line rave DJ at every event from ‘1997 - 2010, playing main room at Sydney’s biggest events - Utopia, Godspeed, Transmission, Prophecy, Fantasia & many, many more, Matrix then became a club DJ, playing at every trance based club night that Sydney has staged. A regular guest among the elite lineup of SUBLIME, resident DJ at Voodoo, Impulse, Masif Saturday’s, Play, Icebox, Wanted, & HSU.
Matrix was one of only 2 local DJs to play the first ever Q-Dance event in Sydney, Alongside the biggest Hard trance DJ in Sydney, Nik Fish. Matrix was also there when HSU began its journey & was one of the original Masif DJs. Touring to play at events around the country in Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Newcastle, Nowra & Canberra, to say that Matrix has done it all is an understatement.
2 years in the ITM top 50 DJs was an impressive feat for a "RAVE Dj” One of only a few DJs from the rave scene that made the cut.
Matrix has always delivered on the decks. His technical mixing & scratching abilities on the Technics Turntables is on par with only a select few DJs in Australia… Those that are referred to as “THE BEST”.
In 2016 & 2017, Matrix delivered long form vinyl trance sets at Home nightclub. "The World of Matrix" & "Return to The World Of Matrix" were both capacity events that showcased Toby Matrix’s abilities to play long form vinyl trance sets.
The recordings of these sets are on high rotation on Matrix’s "Sydney Rave Archive" Soundcloud page.
Now in 2019, Matrix returns in collaboration with Sounds of The Underground to deliver once again an open to close vinyl superset that has the potential to cover many facets of the golden eras of Trance, Hard trance & Rave Classic music.
Playing 100% vinyl through the legendary RANE rotary mixer that once graced the main room stage of Sublime, Matrix will take you on a 6 hour journey through the best music from his extensive vinyl collection.
Always looking for ways to make the dance floor move, expect the unexpected, a set that will expand your musical horizons.
