Subsonic Music Festival Launch Party Syd @ S*A*S*H

Ahoy Sydneysian lovers of subterranean sounds, and welcome, to the Subsonic Music Festival 2017 launch party! With just under 7 months to go until our underground wonderland awakens once again, we have teamed up with dance music giants and dear friends S*A*S*H to bring you a day party of utmost extravagance. A mini-festival and immersive celebration of music, filled with a finely-curated selection of artists and genres, outlandish Subsonic decorations, wondrous market stalls and beautiful souls.

In the first weekend of summer (and just a breezy few hours North from our beautiful city), 5 soul-shaking, diverse and stimulating stages featuring the best sound systems in the world will be booming the finest ambient, reggae, acoustic, world, techno, house, bass, hip-hop and electro-punk music created and collated by 180 exceptional local and international talents for 72 polyphonic hours. Festival folk from all over Australia and the globe come together in a handmade and homegrown celebration of art, music, community, culture and camping - and we invite you to be part of it.

If you’ve partied with us before you’ll know that 12 months is just a tad too long in-between boogies, butt-wigglings, disco-throws, hoe-downs and shimmy-shakes for our type of folk, so we’ve decided to kick things off right about…. N O W.

Multiple dancefloors across The Greenwood Hotel will be reverberating a delightful selection of techno, house, reggae, drum n bass, downtempo, psybient, chillout, ambient and house music for you and yours all day and until the stars switch on, to give you a little taste of what’s to come at this year’s festival. Market stalls, Subsonic merchandise, information about how you can get involved this year and much more will be awaiting you.

Spearheading our glorious commemoration will be the fast-rising Grecian house music selector and producer JOHN DIMAS, currently making huge waves across Europe with his unique sets using three turntables and his ear for digging out a hot, rare track. Drawn to the sounds of Chicago, Acid and French House, he’s renowned for conjuring up solid house basslines with tech around the edges and loves editing to bring surprise to his sets. Playing live is another form of experimentation with his sets, getting creative with his own tracks to play them in a way never played before. With releases on La Vie En Rose, Dame Music, Claap Records, Smoke City and many more, John Dimas proves he is very much part of an up-and-coming generation, pushing through with a new avant-garde house sound.
