Event Description
Summer preserves workshop

Take your first step towards a more sustainable life and reduce your food waste, by learning the timeless skill of preserving food.

Join us for an exciting live cooking demonstration with Amy Sloan from My Nonna Life, a passionate gardener, cook and preserver.

Make the most of beautiful summer produce and learn the following preserving techniques:

·         Bottling: Learn how to make passata using delicious summer tomatoes, just like an Italian!

·         Pickling: Learn the basics of pickling and transform cucumbers into delicious bread and pickles.

·         Jam making: Learn how to make foolproof jam every time using beautiful summer stone-fruit.

·         Marinating: Understand how to safely use oil to preserve food, with a delicious capsicum antipasto.

In addition to learning how to make the above items from start to finish, Amy will also explain how to process your preserved goods using techniques like water-bathing and the Fowlers Vacola Method to safely store your preserves for long term shelf storage.

You’ll receive all the recipes, a processing guide and have the opportunity to taste test all the preserves with a light spread served at the end of the demonstration.

This event is all about inspiring you to embrace your inner Nonna – learn timeless skills that are still incredibly relevant today, live a more sustainable life by reducing food waste and understand how to eat and cook seasonally – transforming produce into delicious goods to fill your pantry year round.

Don’t delay, this event WILL book out!

Please note: This event may run overtime.
