TOMAHAWK ALBUM LAUNCH

NOVEMBER 19TH - 8PM

JIMMY'S DEN

From the SBX and Clandestien camp, Tomahawk the dark lord of hip hop in Australia is set to launch his sophomore solo album ‘Black Swan’ along side Rob Shaker November 19th at Jimmy’s Den. It’s been 8 years since Tomahawk released his debut album ‘A Bitch Named Hip Hop’ and with less than a handful of live performances since, this one is definitely going to be one for the ages.

Tomahawk is an emcee built for the arenas of rap war. His wordplay is sharp-edged and delivered cold on a slab killing with every line, his verses spat like death blows. From the Syllabolix (SBX) camp in Perth, WA, Tomahawk is the only rapper to have been referred to as the Dark Lord of Australian hip-hop. Mounting up a solo campaign with the new album Black Swan, due August 1, he heads back into combat to overthrow those who seek to replace him as one of the illest among hip-hop’s real heads.

Tomahawk, from the overlords of hardcore in Australian hip-hop crew Clandestien (also featuring Mortar and Graphic), for which he’s a joint chief of staff, is still steppin’ with Western Australia’s realest triple threat. Known for their several album assaults they have released four albums since 2001’s Clandestien, Dynasty (2003), Weapons Grade (2012) and Chasms of the Citadel (2007). Before mounting their fifth LP A Brave New World later this year, Tomahawk is set to release his solo follow-up, eight years later.

Tomahawk’s debut album A Bitch Named Hip Hop (2008) is considered a shining standard of the SBX catalogue and one of the finest conceptual releases across Australian hip-hop. Producer Dazastah (Downsyde, SBX) had his work cut out for him bending beats and the spectrum of classic samples cut around the linguistic volley of a Tomahawk verse. Although it’s not the first time hip-hop has been painted a woman, his unique interpretation sought a darkened corner of thought with bolts of lyrical flashes over sonic production tailored around Tomahawk’s bars - one of the many factors that edged this album out from the rest.
