This symposium is brought to you by CCI and Western Roads Federation, the peak body for road transport companies here in WA.
View the program for the morning and afternoon sessions here.
Every community, every business and every exporter depends on our road transport and commercial vehicle sectors to connect them to suppliers, markets and services.
As the WA economy grows, pressures are being felt in these sectors - pressures which if not managed early have the potential to inhibit growth across our state.
This symposium will offer two different sessions as follows:
Morning session: 2018 Strategic Overview
Time: 8.15am - 12.15pm
Featuring discussions about the risk of road constraints from government and business leaders, this session will seek to identify, discuss and propose short and long-term solutions to ensure our sector is able to support WA's renewed growth.
Morning tea included.
Topics covered this session:
- Addressing the driver shortage - what action has occured, and what else is needed?
- Expanding access and higher productivity vehicles networks - why and how?
- How do we develop a regulatory model that: encourages productivity, rewards safe operators, delivers greater public confidence, and reduces compliance cost?
- How does industry and business take a more active role in identifying urban and regional road priorities?
- Details and discussion on a major campaign to changing community attitudes to road transport and commercial vehicle operators
- Road funding - the issues, the risks, the opportunities and why industry and business must get involved
- Next steps
Afternoon session: Managing Transport Risk
Time: 1.00pm - 4.00pm
Aimed at small commercial road transport operators or businesses that engage transport or road services, the afternoon session will provide important safety information and education focusing on compliance and enforcement and the importance of managing risk through growth.
With other 900 Chain of Responsibility infringements issued plus another nearly 300 prosecutions in WA, this seminar from the highly successful Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) 'Putting it on Paper' will be presented to our members.
This incredibly popular and successful program has been delivered right across Queensland with many locations being oversubscribed. This seminar shows attendees some practical strategies to mitigate risk.
This session will include speakers from the QTA, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, and Main Roads WA.
Afternoon tea included.
