Event Description

Scarborough and Pluto LNG Train 2

Woodside is proposing to create a regional LNG hub on the Burrup Peninsula, the company has been operating safely and reliably for more than 30 years. Their vision for the Burrup Hub involves the proposed development of some 20 to 25 trillion cubic feet of gross, dry gas resources from Scarborough, Browse and Pluto, relying on their proven LNG facilities - Pluto LNG and the Karratha Gas Plant.

As part of this vision, Woodside is proposing to unlock the 7.3 Tcf (2C, 100%) Scarborough gas field by connecting new offshore facilities to expanded Pluto LNG facilities (Pluto LNG Train 2).

Up to seven subsea, high-rate gas wells would be tied back to a semi-submersible floating production unit. The dry Scarborough gas would be transported approximately 430 kilometers by pipeline to shore. A second gas processing train would be constructed to Pluto LNG with a capacity of about 5 million tonnes per annum (100% Project).

Woodside awarded (100% funded) the front-end engineering and design contract for Pluto Train 2 to Bechtel in late 2018 and four contracts in early 2019 for front-end engineering design activities for Scarborough. A separate contract for line pipe supply for Scarborough was awarded in May this year.

Woodside is looking to build capacity and maximise opportunities for Western Australian businesses, with local opportunities expected to increase after final investment decisions are made for Scarborough and Pluto Train 2. Woodside is targeting a final investment decision on both projects in 2020.

With global LNG trade anticipated to double over the next 20 years, Woodside's Burrup Hub growth strategy is expected to deliver significant benefits to Western Australia through jobs, contracting opportunities, economic growth and the provision of a reliable energy source.

Tickets are allocated on a first in, best dressed basis - and there's a limit of two guests per organisation.
