Event Description

Join sustainability and permaculture expert Fiona Blackham from Gaia Permaculture for an informative and hands-on workshop focused on creating a thriving waterwise garden with native plants. This workshop will provide you with practical, easy-to-apply techniques to help your native garden flourish year-round, all while conserving water and supporting local biodiversity.

What you’ll learn:

  • Waterwise gardening tips: Discover how to care for both existing and new plants in a sustainable, water-efficient way.

  • Soil improvement techniques: Learn how to improve your soil for long-term health, reducing maintenance time and costs.

  • Planting natives for success: Get hands-on experience with native tubestock and learn how to pot or plant them at home.

  • Soil & pH testing: Participate in a live demonstration on how to take soil samples, test pH levels, and assess soil structure—knowledge that can directly benefit your garden.

  • Practical advice: Explore the importance of soil hydration, plant care, and tips for dealing with hydrophobic soil.

Plus!

  • Take home a free native seedling to try out your new skills at home.

  • You will also learn how to contribute to urban greening, support biodiversity and wildlife habitat and create a garden that promotes cooling effects, saves water and improves mental health.
