Event Description
Wildflower Walk & Gladi Grab - Roe 8 Bushland

Join Diana Corbyn from the Wildflower Society for a wildflower and bushcare morning in the Roe 8 corridor.

Diana will be taking us on an easy, guided wildflower walk, introducing us to the wonderful world of native flora in the Malvolio bushland. Whether you are a complete novice or already know some of our bushland plants, there will be something to learn and discover for everyone.

We will also notice some pink Gladioli on our walk and while many consider them lovely to look at, they are an introduced, invasive weed in our urban bushland. Gladioli compete with native plants for space and nutrients while providing little in return for our wildlife, so we will spend the second half of the morning on a 'Gladi Grab', hand weeding these easy-to-identify weeds in a section of bushland, where you will be actively helping native plants to thrive.

If you are physically able to do so, we encourage you to stay for the hand-weeding session, however you are also welcome to just join for the walk.

While this is a family-friendly event on mostly even ground, there is no pram access and the event may not be suitable for very young kids or toddlers due to risk of trampling plants.

Registrations for this free event are essential. Please RSVP with your dietary requirements for morning tea and to receive potential updates about the event.

Please wear enclosed footwear and bring a hat and re-usable water bottle.

Parking available along the verge along Malvolio Road, south of Elinor Park.

We look forward to seeing you!
