Masquerade Ball: ‘Unmasking Preterm Birth’

Melbourne’s health, sporting, business and philanthropic community is set to usher in autumn in grand style as it unites for a highly anticipated event at the MCG to benefit mothers and babies at risk of preterm birth.

To be held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, 29 February 2019, the Masquerade Ball: ‘Unmasking Preterm Birth’, promises to be an unforgettable evening of exquisite food, wine, entertainment and insight, and will shine a light on the pioneering work of the Women & Infants Research Foundation to prevent early birth and pregnancy loss.

Channel Nine news reporter, Jayde Vincent, will MC the event which will also feature the world leading authority in the field of preterm birth prevention and finalist in the 2020 Australian of the Year Awards, Seniors category, Professor John Newnham AM. The night will feature the incredible sounds of well-known Melbourne band Matt Bradshaw & G-Force, as well as a stunning bespoke cocktail menu and beverage selection designed by the MCG’s Chef de Cuisine, Renee Guymer and the renowned team at Epicure. We also have a spectacular array of auction and raffle prizes to be won.

WIRF provides world leading research into the prevention of pre-term birth. An issue that causes more death and disability in children than any other. FAQs

Start Time

This event commences at 7pm for drinks and canapes.

Entry is via Gate 2 between light towers 1 & 6.

Dress Code

The dress code for the evening is Formal (Masquerade Ball).

As this is a Masquerade Ball, please accessorise with a mask of your choice. Go to www.maskshq.com.au and use the code WIRF2020 to receive a 25% discount on masks.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We have been allocated limited free parking. This is via entrance A off Brunton Avenue and will be on a first arrival basis, available from 5.30pm. However, there are alternative parking options available close by and the MCG is also very accessible by public transport with trains running to Richmond and Jolimont Stations and Tram routes 48, 70, & 75 going straight past the ground.
