FESTIVAL PROGRAM:

The festival kicks off with a bang, or maybe a shimmy, on the Friday night with our huge Gala Opening Night & Garden Cocktail (Disco) Party including a screening of legendary Saturday Night Fever. Not only does this film have one of the most iconic soundtracks of all time by The Bee Gees, it also has a dramatic depth underestimated by many as we watch Tony Ramero (John Travolta) struggle to forge his own identity in an conservative Italian migrant family from Brooklyn. Think a disco version of Rocky!

On the Saturday we have 2 daytime screenings in St Michael’s Church with an 11am screening of the historical Australian drifter classic Sunday Too Far Away at 11am & then at 3pm the fantastic 80’s thriller Gorky Park featuring an all star cast including William Hurt, Lee Marvin, Joanna Pacula, Brian Dennehy & Ian Bannen.

At 8pm we return to the Grays Inn Garden for a screening of the iconic film that is The Hustler. Paul Newman gives a rare performance as pool room hustler Fast Eddie Felsen. With an incredible cast including Jackie Gleason as Minnesota Fats, George C Scott as the ruthless Bert Gordon & Piper Laurie as Eddie’s troubled girlfriend this morality & redemption tale is sure to be another great night of cinema under the stars.

We hit the home stretch on Sunday at 11am with some serious laughs & quirkiness with The Big Lebowski at St Michael’s Church. Arguably one of the Coen brothers best films (they don’t make bad ones) The Big Lebowski is hands down one of the best films to come out of Hollywood in the 90’s.

The festival finishes at 2pm with a screening of the gangster classic Bonnie & Clyde featuring the roguish Warren Beatty & the stunning Faye Dunaway. Based on the mythical figures that were The Great Depression criminals Bonnie & Clyde we once again travel deeper into the motivations & mindset of a criminal duo who cut a swath through the US & died as violently as they had become with others.
